Public Relations

Rachel Bell, MA is the founder of The RVB Group, a public relations and communications provider of choice for organizations that value exceptional content.

She started her public relations career in Washington, D.C. at Burson-Marsteller as a member of the public affairs business development team. She worked with a network of executive leaders to prepare responses to proposals, public relations plans and capabilities presentations. She moved to Ogilvy, another global communications agency, to manage client relationships, conduct media relations, research key issues and produce materials for public relations accounts.

Shortly after she met her husband Dave, a physician in the US Army Medical Corps, he observed that public relations was probably the kind of work she could do from anywhere. He was already thinking ahead. It was also his constant encouragement that let her be able to do what she does. She learned early on that her husband’s military career was not at all flexible. His schedule is always very busy and can be very stressful. He works long hours and long stretches without a day off. On top of that, professional conferences, military training and deployments were going to pop up. She thought if she ever wanted to enjoy spending time with him, her work needed to be as flexible as possible. She also realized that she wanted her work to translate wherever they might go next. He was going to plug right into a network and career advancement. Rather than patch together experience from smaller companies that people might not know from one place to the next, she thought it would make more sense to create her own continuity.

Therefore she established what would become The RVB Group as a resource for companies that need seamless and sophisticated content support. Rachel’s work has supported clients in San Antonio and beyond, including Fortune 500 companies, national businesses, government organizations, nonprofits and a top-rated ABC affiliate. She also counsels organizations about how to authentically communicate with military audiences.

The RVB Group’s capabilities include strategic planning, messaging, public relations, social media counsel and copywriting, creative management and optimized digital content development. Rachel has produced content for newsletter magazines, enterprise-scale optimized digital/web copy, social media promotions, blog posts, feature articles, presentations and communications plans.

The RVB Group is a certified Texas HUB and small/minority/Hispanic/woman- owned business. The company is also a member of the San Antonio Chamber of Commerce and Military Affairs Council, San Antonio Hispanic Chamber of Commerce and the Coalition for Veteran Owned Business.

Rachel earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in English and Communications at Saint Mary’s College, Notre Dame, IN. and she earned a Master of Arts degree in English at the University of Texas at San Antonio.

Rachel lives in San Antonio with her husband and their two daughters.

About the author:

I took early retirement in 1995 from Kodak and I have been in the real estate business since then. During my Kodak career my family lived in six states and we owned thirteen homes. I held positions as Food Trade Manager, Attractions Manager for Florida, Director of Sales Promotion, National Account Manager to HEB Grocery Company and National Sales Manager – US Military – Worldwide. In the twelve years since I retired from Kodak, I’ve been in the real estate business. My entry into the business was through two major agencies; one a local upscale boutique company and the other a very large local operation of a national franchise. I found both (plus most others in the business) to be more oriented towards gross sales and less towards taking care of the needs of the consumer. As a result, I formed my own company. I have three agents besides myself in the company and two staff personnel. Approximately ninety percent of our business comes from direct referrals plus we represent all of the relocating employees for three corporations. Each week I host the area real estate show, Real Estate Focus, on NewsTalk 930 KLUP, Saturdays at 11:00am. The show also streams live on my web site , http://www.HeartofTexasRealty.com and on http://www.KLUP.com. In addition, Bjorn Dybdahl, owner of Bjorn’s Home Entertainment, http://www.Bjorns.com and I host the San Antonio Movers and Shakers Show that airs at 10:00 am each Saturday from the same station and web sites. The real estate show deals with area real estate information and the SA Movers and Shakers show honors the education, business, civic, and public leaders who keep the entrepreneurial spirit alive in our city.
