Mary T. Kelly, PE graduated from the University of Texas at Austin in 1982 with a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering. While at the University, she also worked as an undergraduate research assistant at the Center for Transportation Research located on the UT campus.
She was a member of the American Society of Civil Engineers and a member of Chi Epsilon, the National Civil Engineering Honor Society.
Shortly after graduation, she began work at the TxDOT San Antonio District. Some of her early design projects were the IH-35/IH-10 interchange in downtown San Antonio, the US 90/SH 173 interchange in Hondo, the upgrading of the IH 410 freeway from Cherry Ridge to Honeysuckle and IH 410 at Fredericksburg Road. She served as the construction engineer on IH 410 from SH 16 to US 90.
Mary has been married to her husband, John, for 22 years. He is the former San Antonio TxDOT District Engineer and is fully retired. She has two RN daughters, Caitlin and Bekah, who are both married. Her first (and only at this time) grandchild, Charlotte, is 11 months old where Mary enjoys taking care of her two days a week. In her spare time, she and John love to go out in their RV with their two dogs and see America (and Canada)!
