Lt. Gen. Anthony J. “Tony” Rock,
United States Air Force (retired)

Anthony (Tony) Rock retired from the U.S. Air Force in December of 2017 and is an independent consultant for Operations, Strategy, Leadership, and Defense topics.

Tony served as President of Junior Achievement of South Texas leading staff and volunteers educating children on financial literacy, workforce readiness, and entrepreneurship preparing them to succeed in a global economy.

During his 35-year military career Tony served as an operational F-15 instructor pilot and evaluator amassing over 4200 flying hours and held a variety of command, staff, and senior leadership positions in the Air Force, Joint Services, and Interagency community. He commanded at multiple levels including a fighter squadron; a war-gaming, exercise and analysis center; and both fighter and expeditionary wings. Tony served in numerous locations around the world including Texas, Virginia, Florida, Idaho, Colorado, The Pentagon, Germany, Saudi Arabia, Iraq, and Pakistan and he is a combat veteran of Operations DESERT SHIELD/STORM, ENDURING FREEDOM, and IRAQI FREEDOM.

Tony’s assignments as a senior officer included Deputy Director of Operations for U.S. Northern Command; Commandant of the U.S. Air Force Air Command and Staff College; Director of the Iraq Train and Advise Mission for Airpower; Vice Director of the Joint Staff’s Strategic Plans and Policy Directorate; Chief of the Office of U.S. Defense Representative-Pakistan; with his military career culminating as The Inspector General of the U.S. Air Force.

Tony was chair of the 2018 International Military Training Conference, was keynote speaker at Price, Waterhouse, and Coopers’ Oil Ops Excellence Leaders’ Summit, and currently serves as a board director for The First Tee of Greater San Antonio.

Tony is a graduate of The University of Texas at San Antonio (B.A. History, 1982), and he earned master’s degrees from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University (M.S. Aviation Science, 1995) and The U.S. Air Force Air War College (M.A. Strategic Studies, 2002).

Tony, and his wife Kim, have 3 adult children: A.J living in Manhattan, Bennett and his wife Jessamyn assigned to Ft Riley, Kansas, and Meggie living in Edmonton, Canada. Tony and Kim are also grandparents to 2 grandsons—Theodore and Winston.

I took early retirement in 1995 from Kodak and I have been in the real estate business since then. During my Kodak career my family lived in six states and we owned thirteen homes. I held positions as Food Trade Manager, Attractions Manager for Florida, Director of Sales Promotion, National Account Manager to HEB Grocery Company and National Sales Manager – US Military – Worldwide. In the twelve years since I retired from Kodak, I’ve been in the real estate business. My entry into the business was through two major agencies; one a local upscale boutique company and the other a very large local operation of a national franchise. I found both (plus most others in the business) to be more oriented towards gross sales and less towards taking care of the needs of the consumer. As a result, I formed my own company. I have three agents besides myself in the company and two staff personnel. Approximately ninety percent of our business comes from direct referrals plus we represent all of the relocating employees for three corporations. Each week I host the area real estate show, Real Estate Focus, on NewsTalk 930 KLUP, Saturdays at 11:00am. The show also streams live on my web site , http://www.HeartofTexasRealty.com and on http://www.KLUP.com. In addition, Bjorn Dybdahl, owner of Bjorn’s Home Entertainment, http://www.Bjorns.com and I host the San Antonio Movers and Shakers Show that airs at 10:00 am each Saturday from the same station and web sites. The real estate show deals with area real estate information and the SA Movers and Shakers show honors the education, business, civic, and public leaders who keep the entrepreneurial spirit alive in our city.
