Leslie Komet Ausburn is President of Komet Marketing Communications, a boutique strategic marketing firm that believes in exceptional, personalized service. Her team of senior level strategists pride themselves on being ideas people dedicated to results. For more than 20 years, she has provided public relations and crisis communications support to businesses and nonprofits across the U.S., Canada, Mexico and Sweden.
Leslie is, a native of San Antonio, has more than 20 years of experience leading public relations campaigns and crisis communications initiatives for clients in a broad spectrum of industries including hospitality/tourism, healthcare, finance, construction, automotive, nonprofits and technology.
Ms Komet-Ausburn attended Vanderbilt University and the University of Texas at Austin, where she graduated with honors from the Moody College of Communication with a Bachelor’s degree in Journalism. She also holds a Master’s degree in Broadcast Journalism from Northwestern University’s highly regarded Medill School of Journalism in Evanston, Illinois.
Leslie enjoyed a 15+ year career as a television news reporter and anchor (including positions at WOAI-TV, KENS 5 TV and News 9 here in San Antonio) before transitioning into public relations, and then launching Komet Marketing Communications In 2007.
She has developed a strong reputation for excellence in her field, working with agencies and clients across the United States, as well as in Canada, Sweden and Mexico.
In 2018, the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA) San Antonio Chapter honored Leslie with their Tex Taylor Lifetime Achievement Award. Komet Marketing was also recognized by the North San Antonio Chamber of Commerce as the 2018 Public Relations Agency of the Year.
Leslie believes in giving back to the community:
She is an active board member for the South Alamo Regional Alliance for the Homeless and Les Dames d’escoffier San Antonio.
She serves on the Assistance League of San Antonio Advisory Council, Bexar.
She’s a member of the County Partners for Youth Equine Advisory Council, and the San Antonio Botanical Garden Advisory Board.
She is active on the San Antonio Botanical Garden Development Committee.
Leslie was also selected to serve on the San Antonio Organizing Committee’s Public Relations Committee for the 2018 NCAA Men’s Final Four
Leslie and her husband Adam Ausburn are the proud parents of Ethan, a recent Boston University graduate; Madeleine, a sophomore biology/pre-med student at the University of Texas at Austin; and Peyton, a high school junior who attends Reagan High School.
