Executive Director
Masters Leadership Program
Of Greater San Antonio

Kathy MacNaughton believes building strong relationships between nonprofit organizations and the community is the key to making our city a better place to live, grow, learn and thrive.

Since starting her fundraising career over 30 years ago, helping organizations build donor-centered development practices. Kathy began as the Director of Development and Volunteers for a locally-based school, then established KMAC & Associates in 1997 to manage fundraising events for a variety of nonprofit organizations. In 2005, Kathy shifted her focus to help her nonprofit clients design relationship-building activities that strengthen sustained engagement with the community. As the President and CEO of KMAC & Associates, and a Certified Fundraising Executive (CFRE), Kathy provided guidance to the leaders of philanthropic organizations while coaching the business community on making their charitable giving really count. Now, as Executive Director of the Masters Leadership Program since 2013, Kathy is able to leverage that experience by matching nonprofit agencies with people who are eager to give back to the community through board leadership.

As a graduate of the Masters Leadership Program of Greater San Antonio, Kathy is passionate about equipping our community leaders with the skills and information they need to provide the strongest leadership possible to nonprofit boards. She considers to be a truly rewarding experience to work with people who are dedicated to serving the community with their time, energy, resources, and real-world expertise.

In keeping with Kathy’s belief in giving back, she is committed to the San Antonio community community on a personal level, serving currently on the boards of trustees for the DoSeum and the San Antonio Public Library Foundation.

As part of her Library Foundation service, she served as co-chair of the Literacy Caravan.

Kathy served on the United Way and San Antonio Youth Literacy (SAYL) Boards and six years as a SAYL Reading Buddy with second graders at Herff Elementary (SAISD) and Wilshire Elementar

MacNaughton’s responsibilities at MLP of San Antonio include serving as a focal point for the program and as a catalyst for board and committee governance, fundraising, and community relations.

Kathy and her family moved to San Antonio in 1984 and just can’t imagine living anywhere else!

About the author:

I took early retirement in 1995 from Kodak and I have been in the real estate business since then. During my Kodak career my family lived in six states and we owned thirteen homes. I held positions as Food Trade Manager, Attractions Manager for Florida, Director of Sales Promotion, National Account Manager to HEB Grocery Company and National Sales Manager – US Military – Worldwide. In the twelve years since I retired from Kodak, I’ve been in the real estate business. My entry into the business was through two major agencies; one a local upscale boutique company and the other a very large local operation of a national franchise. I found both (plus most others in the business) to be more oriented towards gross sales and less towards taking care of the needs of the consumer. As a result, I formed my own company. I have three agents besides myself in the company and two staff personnel. Approximately ninety percent of our business comes from direct referrals plus we represent all of the relocating employees for three corporations. Each week I host the area real estate show, Real Estate Focus, on NewsTalk 930 KLUP, Saturdays at 11:00am. The show also streams live on my web site , http://www.HeartofTexasRealty.com and on http://www.KLUP.com. In addition, Bjorn Dybdahl, owner of Bjorn’s Home Entertainment, http://www.Bjorns.com and I host the San Antonio Movers and Shakers Show that airs at 10:00 am each Saturday from the same station and web sites. The real estate show deals with area real estate information and the SA Movers and Shakers show honors the education, business, civic, and public leaders who keep the entrepreneurial spirit alive in our city.
