Joe “VetBizMan” is an experienced businessman and entrepreneur able to see opportunities where others see adversity. He has over 27 years of combined military and civilian leadership and business management experience. He has managed diverse organizations both overseas and in Texas ranging from a four man strategic military operations team to a 68 employee contracting company. After leaving active duty in 1998, he rejoined his family business as a principal and managed the daily operations of the award winning minority owned and operated commercial landscape construction and maintenance company. In his executive level capacity he was able to direct the growth of this small company from a low six figure annual sales revenue to a multi-million dollar company. While managing operations of the company the success and growth of the firm was recognized nationally by Hispanic Business Magazine as one of the 100 Fastest Growing Businesses in America in 2003. In early 2010, Joe created Frontline Support Solutions, a Service Disabled Veteran Owned general contracting and facility management firm. He is taking the leadership and international experience he gained while in the Army, and is combining it with what he has learned as a successful federal contractor to create job opportunities for a segment of our population that is inherently skilled and has the demonstrated ability to achieve the near impossible. He created this company as a vehicle to provide employment opportunities to fellow able and disabled veterans interested in federal contracting opportunities. His belief in these individuals capabilities is indefatigable. He knows that if properly taught to perform work in the diverse and demanding federal contracting arena they will succeed. Joe has extensive experience performing on contracts ranging from one time small micro purchases to a $6,000,000 multi-year construction and service contract on the Port Authority of San Antonio, formerly known as Kelly AFB, TX. Joe is a hands-on manager that can quickly assess a situation and make appropriate decisions as necessary to provide his customers with the product they require. Joe has served as a member of the Board of Directors (BOD) for the Greater San Antonio Chamber of Commerce for the last five years. Three of those years he served on the Chairman’s Executive Committee. He has also served three terms on the BOD of the Hispanic Contractors Association de San Antonio. Joe has attended various executive level business development courses at institutions such as University of Texas, Oklahoma State University, Dartmouth College, the USAF Special Operations School, and the Defense Intelligence Agency.

About the author:

I took early retirement in 1995 from Kodak and I have been in the real estate business since then. During my Kodak career my family lived in six states and we owned thirteen homes. I held positions as Food Trade Manager, Attractions Manager for Florida, Director of Sales Promotion, National Account Manager to HEB Grocery Company and National Sales Manager – US Military – Worldwide. In the twelve years since I retired from Kodak, I’ve been in the real estate business. My entry into the business was through two major agencies; one a local upscale boutique company and the other a very large local operation of a national franchise. I found both (plus most others in the business) to be more oriented towards gross sales and less towards taking care of the needs of the consumer. As a result, I formed my own company. I have three agents besides myself in the company and two staff personnel. Approximately ninety percent of our business comes from direct referrals plus we represent all of the relocating employees for three corporations. Each week I host the area real estate show, Real Estate Focus, on NewsTalk 930 KLUP, Saturdays at 11:00am. The show also streams live on my web site , http://www.HeartofTexasRealty.com and on http://www.KLUP.com. In addition, Bjorn Dybdahl, owner of Bjorn’s Home Entertainment, http://www.Bjorns.com and I host the San Antonio Movers and Shakers Show that airs at 10:00 am each Saturday from the same station and web sites. The real estate show deals with area real estate information and the SA Movers and Shakers show honors the education, business, civic, and public leaders who keep the entrepreneurial spirit alive in our city.
